Welcome:
![]() We are the hunting agents for several private ranches in Northeast New Mexico. This area has canyons and top country running on both sides of a river valley which is an ideal home to elk, mule deer, antelope, bear and turkey. We offer fair chase, guided trophy hunts for each of these species, across several adjoining private ranches. This allows us to coordinate game management on our hunting property. We are improving wildlife habitat by thinning trees, improving water, controlled burns, and controlling predators. Our high quality hunts are maintained through selective trophy hunts and a very limited number of hunters. Long-term emphasis on quality and respect of the game has been the key to high success rates for our hunters.
![]() Hunting license are obtained through private land permits we issue or over the counter license. These are both a guaranteed license, there is no state drawing to apply for. Most of our hunts are spot and stalk. We taylor hunts for the individual hunter and small hunting parties. We seldom have more than 5 hunters on any one hunt. Our experienced guides have guided with me for several years. This is an added advantage as guides are familiar with the country and assist in countless hours of scouting before hunters arrive and between hunts. On-site lodging is provided in a comfortable new hunting lodge consisting of, 7 bedrooms, 4 baths, kitchen and large living room area, deer, elk and turkeys can be observed regularly out the lodge windows or from the porches. Bedrooms are double occupancy with a bathroom shared by two bedrooms; we have satellite big screen TV and internet service. All bedding, linens, towels and great ranch-style meals are included. All hunts are guided, trophy, elk, mule deer and whitetail, 1X1, management mule deer, antelope, cow elk, turkey, and black bear 2X1, Hunters only need to bring their own personal items. The nearest airport is Colorado Springs, CO. Other airports are located in Denver, Co; Albuquerque, NM; and Amarillo, TX. Hunters are scheduled to arrive at our lodge the afternoon of the day before the hunt starts. Price of the hunt does not include New Mexico hunting license, transportation to or from airport, processing and shipping of meat, taxidermy services or gratuities. A deposit of half the price of the hunt is required at booking. The second half is due upon arrival and to be paid in cash or same as cash only. Non-hunting guests will be charged $125 per day. If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
2010 Hunting Season We had a super 2010 hunting year with our hunters, harvesting terrific animals in every species. Our spring turkey hunts provided all hunters with at least one long beard tom with 75% getting their second bird also. Our antelope hunts produced some 15 ½ inch bucks, with 100% hunter success. 11 elk hunters were able to take 10 trophy bulls with the two biggest being just a little over 350. The rut mule deer ranged between 170 and 185 with many future great bucks observed.
Elk Hunting:
![]() Our trophy elk hunts start in mid September with the archery elk hunt that we keep to a very limited number of hunters. These hunts are extremely exciting, with a great opportunity at the best bulls. October is when we run our rifle hunts the bulls are still in rut and normally a hunter will hear plenty of bugling, glassing, and stalking are our main ways of hunting In 2010, we had another great year, 11 elk hunters were able to take 10 trophy bull elk, with the biggest scoring a little over 350. The elk population continues to increase on our hunting property with more and bigger bulls each year. This is due in part to light hunting pressure resulting in a high percentage of big bull elk not harvested and allowed to grow even bigger. Our rifle elk hunting country is 120,000 acres of private property consisting of 3 ranches. Our elk hunts all include a private land owner permit which guarantee’s a license, lodging and meals. All of our bull elk hunts are guided 1 x 1. We offer an ideal hunt for elk in the 300 to 350 class, and are usually taking a few bulls a year between 350 and 390.
Mule Deer:
![]() 2009 Season We offer a muzzle loader hunt in late Sept. Rifle hunt the end of Oct. Late Oct. a management hunt allows us to harvest a few bucks that we want out of the breeding herd. Late Nov. and mid Dec. We have land owner tags for mule deer during the rut. We have entered into some special agreements with the New Mexico Game Dept. to offer these late season mule deer hunts, last year there were 15 ranches in the state that qualified for these hunts and we have 2 of them, these tags are extremely limited. For the past several years we have taken very few mule deer hunters to help increase our buck size and numbers. We are seeing some tremendous bucks and the coming years will be great hunting. In 2010 we only took 3 hunters, harvesting 3 bucks from 170 to185. Hunters will have an exceptional chance at 180 and over class mule deer on these November and December rut hunts. On our management hunts we have been taking about 4 hunters per year, the bucks we are harvesting are mule deer that we want out of the breeding herd, they are mature bucks mostly 3X3 not counting eye guards, these are extremely nice bucks but ones we fill will never be a 4X4. Trophy deer hunts are guided 1X1. Management hunts are guided 2X1
Antelope:
![]() These are very exciting 3 day hunts, and hunters will see high numbers of antelope. The first hunt runs in late August and the second hunt in September when the bucks are in rut. Antelope hunts include, private land owner permit, lodging and ranch stile meals. All hunters in 2010 harvested great antelope bucks, with the majority being from 14 to 15 ½ inch antelope. Northern New Mexico has a well known reputation for large populations of antelope. The large, flat, open spaces of our top country make for ideal antelope habitat. We have had 100% success for the past 10 years on these hunts and have harvested some real trophy antelope. Hunts are guided 2 x 1.
Turkey
Our Merriam turkey hunts are 3 day hunts, with a 2 bird limit that run in mid April to early May. The turkey hunts include, lodging and meals. The license is over the counter. Our turkey hunting country includes river bottoms and wooded canyons that are prime turkey habitat. This area may be some of the best Merriam turkey hunting found any where. Fresh spring growths in the hay and alfalfa fields concentrate turkey next to big cottonwoods where they roost. Hunters can expect to see high numbers of turkey. We have never hunted our turkey hard so they are not normally call shy and most hunters generally get the 2 bird limit. Hunts are guided 2 x 1.
